Navigation for runners

Have you ever been put off a race because you're not sure how to navigate?  Have you stuck to the same old routes because you're worried about getting lost if you try a new one?  Then the answer is simple - learn to navigate!

Our course takes you through all the essentials of learning to read and interpret a map as well as follow routes with confidence.  On the course you'll learn how to:

  • Recognise key features on a map
  • Appreciate ground layout through contours
  • Use a compass to orientate a map
  • Take and move on a bearing
  • Navigate point to point
  • Plan and follow a route from scratch

This course consists of a morning theory session followed by a afternoon practical session focusing entirely on basic navigation skills required to move efficiently in the mountains.  You will be expected to run outside in the second half of the course so you will need basic trail running kit.

Duration 8 hours (9am-5pm) Cost of one to one training is £200.  A group of four people costs £60 (per person).
